IAHSP Community Worldwide Staging Service Week
Project:
The St. Louis Chapter of the IAHSP was initially organized in April, 2007 and has grown currently to 16 members. The purpose of our chapter is to promote the business of ASP Home Staging, give support to our chapter members, as well as participate in local community service activities. As a new chapter of the IAHSP, this was our inaugural year as participants in the IAHSP Foundation’s World Wide Staging Services Week (WWSSW).
Our chapter chose the Ronald McDonald Houses as the main focus for our 2007 WWSSW project. After meeting with the Ronald McDonald Houses’ staff, it was determined that the outdoor, covered porch at the 3450 Park Avenue location would be the priority for staging, at this time.
The porch initially had three benches for families to sit outside. The Director of House Operations, Jennifer Braucksieker, as well as the IAHSP chapter members, all felt that the porch needed more definition in terms of function. We all wanted to see the porch as a place for families to use more regularly when the weather was nice.
Through constructive planning, the members of the St. Louis Chapter studied the “before” pictures of the porch and formulated our “staging plan”. We discussed that we wanted more seating for adults and children and we wanted a variety of seating within the porch space. Our members wanted to stage the porch to be more welcoming, more relaxing, and more useful for the families.
Our plans resulted in a well-executed activity on the morning of Saturday, September 15th. We had 11 of our members participating which included Gerri Downen, ASPM Stager, Anna Schmidt, ASP Stager, Audery Sims-Timberlake, ASP Stager, Sue Conradt ASP Realtor, Kay Dixon, ASP Realtor, Lynn Lees, ASP Realtor, Tacia Beine, ASP Stager, Sierra Beine, Jr Stager, Sue Rector, ASP Stager, Linda Knight, ASP Stager, Chris Balch, ASP Stager, and Alice Reinacher, ASP Realtor.
Our staging was carried out with love and care for the families of the Ronald McDonald House, evident by each member’s contributions. The result of our staging services project transformed the fairly empty porch into an area with two areas for tables and chairs, a children’s bench table, “porch toys” for the children, as well as two other distinct seating areas. The addition of wall artwork, accessories, and fall mums completed the project!
As we have learned from our mentor, Barb Schwarz, when love and care go into any staging activity, wonderful things happen! Our chapter members came together on one special day. We felt that our experience together bonded our chapter members closer as friends and fellow ASPs. But most importantly, we felt that we made a difference for the families at the St. Louis Ronald McDonald House on Park Avenue!
