IAHSP Community Worldwide Staging Service Week
Project:
Our project is the Gathering Room at the Women and Children's Shelter in Melbourne, FL. This room is a quiet common area for counseling, reading, watching TV, sewing, meetings, whatever is needed. It's drab, overcrowded, and decorated with Christmas decoratorations. We are all very excited to make the room cheerful, warm and inviting. The shelter is under the umbrella of the Salvation Army.
Below are before and after pictures of the room we Staged. We put blinds on 4 of the 6 windows for a little more privacy. The 2 that were left open were left that way for monitoring purposes, as a window overlooks the room from the office, and from the hall. We packed the Christmas decorations, rearranged the furniture, took out an old fold up table that held a sewing machine and replaced it with a sewing table , replaced the very worn rug with a new one, added new baskets, pillows, and other accessories.
The staff and residents were delighted with the outcome. One of the ladies in the office said, "the room looks so warm and cozy, and not so institutional" now. Five of our six chapter members showed up to help. Our chapter was just established in August, we are very proud of our team for pulling this project together at the last minute, and with very little preparation.

A big thank you to you and your group for the wonderful work they did atthe Sue M. Pridmore Center. We received your card and it is us that need to say thank you to you. So please accept our deepest gratitude for the efforts of your "Stagers". It looks lovely and I am sure that the women will find it a wonderful oasis from their days.
