Naples Chapter
Hi Gina,
The Naples Chapter of IAHSP participated in the World Wide Staging Service Day by Staging the Sunlight Home in Naples, Florida. This is a residential program for pregnant teens/young women and their babies. It is a shelter offering help toward physical, emotional and spiritual wholeness, and is a safe haven where the residents and their babies are free from domestic violence.
The home consists of living areas for the residents and their babies as well as a private section where the director, Linda Hale, lives full time. It was the director's quarters that we Staged, since this is the area that often becomes the catch-all for donations, supplies, etc. and clutter was a huge problem. The areas we Staged were the sitting room, the kitchen, the storage/laundry room and the "store." The residents earn play money by doing chores and speaking engagements, and in turn spend their play money in the "store" where they purchase clothes, toiletries and baby items. A donation of a sofa sleeper played a huge part in Staging the sitting room. We also was given two lovely pictures, a silk topiary and a lamp for this room. We were able to purchase at a deep discount two wooden cabinets with doors which were used in the "store." These were to hold the baby items, which the residents can view only after they make the choice to keep their baby rather than to adopt out.
The project turned out better than we could have ever hoped. The director of Sunlight Home was thrilled beyond words. The IAHSP members who participated were Chris Etienne, Sue Garand, Dawn May, Bonnie Hauke and Margie Ogle.
Attached is our spread sheet showing expenditures and donations. Final expenditures have not been completed, since left-over funds have been earmarked for purchasing items on a wish list supplied by the director of Sunlight Home.
An additional e-mail will follow with Before and Staged photos. I plan to mail all signed releases to you, which you should receive later in the week.
Our thanks to Barb Schwarz and everyone at Stagedhomes.com for their support in this worthwhile project.
Sincerely,
Margie Ogle, ASP, IAHSP
